Crescenta Valley High School
Crescenta Valley High School is an accredited public high school in La Crescenta, California. The school is affiliated with the Glendale Unified School District and serves a municipal neighborhood along the western boundary of the City of La Crescenta. The school has a student body of 2,569 and a staff of 101. Among the school's perks are a plethora of extracurricular activities. In fact, the school boasts one of the largest athletic programs in the state. Aside from sporting events, the high school also offers an array of academic subjects for students to pursue.
The high school has a few awards and accolades to its credit. One of the more notable is the Golden Apple Award, which honors the top performing schools in the district. Its most recent accolade was the California Distinguished School award, which is a nod to the fact that the school has been recognized for its efforts to improve the lives of its students. However, for a school with a student body of more than 2,500, the number of teachers may be more than the available resources, which means less time for instruction. That is, if the school had the same enrollment as it had five years ago. This is a shame, as the student body is made up of some of the best and brightest the area has to offer. As a result, the student-teacher ratio is disproportionately higher than the rest of the county. Additionally, the school is the recipient of a number of honors, including the National Blue Ribbon award for being the best high school in the state of California.
For a relatively small town, the high school has managed to carve out an impressive niche amongst the competition. With the large number of students enrolled and the variety of options for learning, it's no wonder that the school ranks as one of the more popular public high schools in Los Angeles County.
