Stengel Field
Stengel Field in Glendale CA is an historic baseball field with a long and rich history. Named after Casey Stengel, a famous former resident of the city, the field is home to several youth baseball teams and serves as a recreation and parks facility for the community. The field is lighted for night play and features ample seating for home fans. It is also the graduation venue for Crescenta Valley High School.
The field has been a part of the local community for almost sixty years. In fact, the stadium was built in 1949 and was originally called Verdugo Park Municipal Baseball Field. However, the field was renamed in 1952 to honor one of Glendale's greatest heroes, Casey Stengel.

As the manager of the New York Yankees, Stengel won five straight World Series. During his career, he also managed the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Oakland Oaks. He also worked with Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra. After retiring from baseball, Stengel joined the Boston Red Sox as a coach. He was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966, along with Ted Williams.
Stengel Field has played host to several famous teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and the New York Yankees. But, the field has suffered significant damage. This damage caused by water intrusion has progressively worsened over the years. To repair the stadium, the city has enlisted the help of a nonprofit organization named the Stengel Field Foundation.
The foundation is currently working to raise funds for the restoration of the stadium. They are committed to building temporary aluminum bleachers in place of the current bleachers, which have outlived their lifespan. Their goal is to have the project completed in August.
Stengel Field has been a staple of the Glendale community for decades. In addition to the high school, the park is a popular place for several local organizations to hold tournaments. There are many baseball programs held at the field, including the Glendale Area Youth Baseball, Babe Ruth Program, Little League, and Crescenta Valley High School.
Stengel Field has played a role in many community events, including the Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training games. It was also the graduation location for Crescenta Valley High School, and has served as the site of numerous youth baseball and Little League tournaments.
Since the field was built, it has served as the home of several baseball teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and the Chicago Cubs. Many teams from across the country have been hosted at the field, and it has served as a home base for the Glendale College Vaqueros for decades. With such a rich history, the field has a lot of potential to be restored and continue to provide a place for families to watch their favorite sport.
